Seven Best Conservative Catholic Blogs

by Enid Hinton

Numerous bloggers have created sites targeting Catholics or about the Catholic faith. While some are excellent platforms for discussions and resources, others are substandard and not worth the time. They run in different languages with administrators occupying various positions among the clergy and laity. Here are seven of the highest rated conservative catholic blogs that offer excellent news, information and commentaries.

Father Z: What does the Prayer Really Say? It offers excellent liturgical nuances and commentaries by the priest on emerging issues and news. He has a section where he teaches Latin and has a fun side of a bird feeder. The blog is very active with several posts on daily basis. Father Z gives a lot of attention to the liturgy and catechism.

Dolan: The Gospel in the Digital Age- This could be among the most active platforms by a Prince of the Church, His Eminence Cardinal Dolan from NYC. Bishop Dolan has managed to capture the faithful of NYC and also provide important news from USCCB. You will find his schedule on daily basis if you wish to follow his journey of faith. His high position makes the platform very authoritative.

Dominica: Dominican Students of the Province of St. Joseph- This blog is run by Dominican preachers. It offers dynamism in subjects especially since the contributors are drawn from different regions and social sectors. This has also brought in diversity in style when handling church and societal issues. Dominica has a reputation of devotion to doctrines and depths even on the most trivialized matter.

Taylor Marshall Canterbury Tales- This blog makes a lot of reference to St. Thomas of Aquinas as well as the Church Fathers. It has a reputation for substance and brevity in handling any matter. The posts are laden with catechistical characters and try to reveal the depth in what may be considered simple and basic teachings in the church.

Fr. Longenecker: Standing on the Head- Father Longenecker has an interesting history as a clergy man. He is a talented writer who offers very interesting look into the society and the faith. He provides answers to sticky questions by followers but has also skewed his posts to include random commentaries and ideas. He writes about politics, movies and even metaphysical ideas like the existence of aliens.

Pulp.it- this site allows you to sample some of the best articles or entries in other blogs. There are five posts on daily basis spread from early morning, midday, early afternoon, late afternoon and a final one in the evening. It also is the site where you will get the latest news from the National Catholic Register.

Creative Minority Report- this is a site for conservatives in Catholicism and politics. It gives a thought-out introduction and commentary before any story. The admin also runs a parallel twitter account that keeps followers engaged throughout the day. It is a very interesting blog for what is regarded as a conservative minority group.

Other blogs that are worth noting include Catholic Vote, Live Action and First Things. These platforms are administered by the laity or clergy with the aim of offering insights into faith and catechism. They are very resourceful for the faithful and masses with their researched and in-depth views about emerging issues and doctrines.
