You might think that the only place where you could take your English course language abroad is in countries like England, US, Canada, or other English speaking countries. For people who are not conversant with the goings on in Colombia, all they think about when one mentions the country is all the negative things they hear. One can be forgiven for thinking of Colombia as a country with armed rebels fighting guerilla wars and drug dealers fighting for territory supremacy. However, unknown to many people, deep in the parts and mountains of this country lies impressive universities.

Mention Colombia and the images that come to the mind of most people will mostly be negative. People think of it as a country riddled with conflicts and drug dealers, but there is one surprising positive that this South American country has. It is home to one of the best universities is Latin American region.

When you take the language courses, they will help in writing clearly and communicating effectively. Many courses require things like presentations and seminar discussions to allow you develop your spoken language skills. Taking a literature course in this language teaches you various ways of analyzing complex information using sophisticated theories and ideas.

Prior to 1950s, many students in Colombia studies in the United States, and the gulf in quality they experienced shocked them into action. They realized the education system in the country was too rigid, and the only way they could encourage change in approach was by providing a competing education model. The beginnings are always the hardest but the country managed to make the first major steps.

Besides, you also need to consider whether a college offers postgraduate training and if it has a private school that probably deals with public affairs. The research centers also help in bringing out a picture on how the school has excelled in research work. Many private universities are open for international students though the cost may not be affordable.

The universities do not believe the only focus on education should be vocational. Besides, some universities conduct the so called summer exchange programs where students come from all over the world to learn how things are run. Summer school exchange programs are mostly taught in English. There are also programs in Italian, German, Portuguese, and Mandarin.

The best in Colombia hardly ever study in foreign universities, so many top civil servants are alumni of the local colleges. Prior to 1950s, many people studied in the United States and experienced a huge difference in the way things were run in the two countries. They decided to change things, but realized the only way they could, was by providing a model with which others could compare themselves. The first steps in the journey were hardest but they managed to overcome major challenges.
