Breaking Through Any Ageism In The Workplace Avoiding The Stumbling Blocks
by Michael Mitchell
Waking up with no purpose because of an injury can have a bad reaction to people who are used to the working life. This stumbling block can make one feel as though they are not good enough because of less pay or in some cases, no pay. To avoid ageism In the workplace some organizations do allow for well-grounded support for their employees which can help a great deal, physically and mentally. Whilst others are not willing to dig deeper into their pockets for their employees.
In an ideal world, it would be. Given that the organization you work for allows for that kind of support. Whether it is a physical or mental injury, support is vital to a persons well being. Especially since you are spending most of your time at work rather than at home.
Work also comes with its own set of danger. Simple issues such as sitting too close to your pc could damage your eyesight, or a bad backrest on your chair can cause back pains. Generally, life is so busy that most people do not notice but specific industries such as the health sector are a perfect example of constant injury as they are always on their feet.
These workers perform strenuous jobs. Apart from walking from patient to patient, they are also in direct contact with diseases and infections. Even though this is just a job for most people, for others it comes with passion and they rather shrug off the pain than take the sick leave and rest at home.
To avoid being in this situation, take the necessary precautions to stay healthy. It is in everyones best interest if more time is spent living life to the fullest instead of lying in bed helpless. A once off medical issue may seem temporary but some injuries easily creep up again and it is always when it is least expected.
Having to stay at home when familiar with a certain work and life routine can sometimes be very demoralizing. Often people who are laid off due to injury tend to fall into a deep state of depression. This is aggravated if they are do not have anyone there to help them by cheering them up and making them go out to take their minds off their worries.
During this time, more than a few thoughts are passing through ones mind. One of the major concerns is paying the bills. Keeping in mind that sick pay is not always enough to run through the month. Especially if the financial responsibility is placed on the same person. Other factors that come into play is when children are involved because the last thing you want them to find out is that you are on a budget. Also, making them aware of the financial problems can only lead to confusion.
When the kids start to acknowledge the problem, the couple may turn on each other because of creating bad impressions. They may also start to feel as if they are not supported and may turn to others or feel more alone than they already do. A grounded home is a good home and making yourself aware that you need to take precautions can help avoid an unnecessary battle.
