Puerto Rico Flag And The Flag Company Inc

The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico is located in the Caribbean Sea, about 1,000 mi east-southeast of Miami, Fla. A possession of the United States, it consists of the island of Puerto Rico plus the adjacent islets of Vieques, Culebra, and Mona.
The flag was first used on December 22, 1895. A group of 59 Puerto Ricans led by Dr. Julio J. Henna, gather at "Chimney Corner Hall" in Manhattan, New York City and organizes a political group, attached to the Cuban Revolutionary Party, which advocated independence for Puerto Rico and Cuba from Spanish rule. As part of their activities, a flag was created to rally support for independence from Spain.
Its resemblance to the Cuban flag would later go on to cause problems the 1950’s when the Cuban revolution had taken place. US officials became suspicious of those who flew the flag of Puerto Rico and arrested them on charges of insubordination against the US. The Puerto Rico flag is never flown alone, only in the company of the US flag.
The flag of Puerto Rico has five red and white horizontal stripes, with red on the top, bottom, and center, and white in between. On the hoist side, a blue triangle points inward, with a five-pointed star in white. The star represents the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the triangle it sits inside shows the equality of each of the three branches of government, the executive, legislative, and judicial branches.
Designed in 1890 the five-pointed white star represents the commonwealth of Puerto Rico, whilst the three sided triangle signifies the three branches (executive, legislative and judicial) of the republican government. The three red stripes show the blood that feeds the three branches and the two white signify the rights of man and the freedom of the individual.
There is a barrage of cheap and inferior Puerto Rico flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Some flags are cheaply made and more importantly, the designs, materials, colors, and methods of printing do not compare well with the better quality, longer-lasting, and correctly designed flags.
